Greek Dried Tomatoes “Geothermiki”

Origin: Greece

Description: Greek tomatoes are grown under high international standards, on the fertile plains around the Nestos River Delta, Northern Greece and are dried at moderate temperatures using geothermal energy.

Geothermal drying procedure is carried out in tunnel ovens (10.000 kg capacity). The hot air which comes from an underground geothermal deposit is introduced into the ovens in a continuous flow.

Before drying, each tomato undergoes an elaborate process of pre-washing, washing, sorting and cutting and packaged in vacuum bags or glass and plastic jars.

Geothermal method benefits: 

- avoids the thermal shock that affects the cell structure of the dried product

- preserves the original colour of the fruit

- preserves the intense natural flavour that makes these tomatoes ideal for all uses

- no salt and no preservatives is needed to be added
